Active Plus+
Filter cartridge for treating drinking water - with added safety
Refreshing drinking pleasure - The Active Plus+ cartridge has similar performance parameters to the standard Active cartridge, but is also able to filter a large number of bacteria (up to 0.7 µm). Another plus point is the slight reduction of limescale (approx. 4-6 °dH).
Other benefits of the cartridge include filtration/reduction of: Odor, taste, turbidity, chlorine, pesticides, microplastics and much more.
Active Plus+
Range of services
Removes bad taste and odors
BIOTON binds unpleasant odors (such as chlorine) and impairs taste.
Reduction of heavy metals
The adsorbing effect of BIOTON binds heavy metals such as lead and copper in drinking water.
Filtration of microplastics and the smallest particles
The ultra-fine structure of the filter medium reliably retains microscopically small particles and plastic particles down to 0.7 µm.
Reduction of pesticides and pharmaceutical residues
Organic compounds such as pesticide residues, herbicides, insecticides, drug residues, hormones and hormone-like substances can be reduced.
Against bacteria and germs
Germ protection without chemicals. Mechanical germ barrier up to a bacterial size of 0.7 µm.
Limescale reduction / water softening
Water softening through ion exchange and structural change of lime compounds (less adherent surface)
Cartridge change
Change interval 4 months - depending on the quality of the input water.
Can also be used with hot water
Insensitive even at higher water temperatures (up to approx. 45° C)
Technical data - Active Plus

Filter medium BIOTON
The filter medium consists of a special MGS polymer (macroscopic microstructure) called "BIOTON". The water presses against the filter medium from the outside and flows through the fine structures into the inside of the cartridge. On contact with the filter medium, the water is filtered. The innovative Active Plus+ cartridge combines several water treatment methods in just one cycle:
- Mechanical filtration
- Adsorptive filtration
- Ion exchange

Method 1
Mechanical filtration of impurities and microorganisms > 0.7 µm
Fine channels in the filter material form a first stage in the filtration of coarse impurities. If particles do not stick to the outer wall of the filter due to their size, they are stopped by the increasingly smaller channels. Particles and bacteria down to a size of 0.7 µm can be retained.

Method 2
Removal of odor, turbidity and organic compounds by adsorption
The strong surface forces (adhesion) of the filter material remove unwanted turbidity, odors and organic compounds from the water.
The term "organic" includes hundreds of pollutant compounds. In addition, the BIOTON filter medium effectively filters out other pollutants in a similar way to activated carbon:
- Drug residues
- Hormones
- Pesticides/plant protection products
- Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances(PFAS)
- Chlorine

Method 3
Limescale reduction through ion exchange (softening effect)
In water treatment, the chemical process of "ion exchange" is used to achieve softening(limescale reduction) of the water. Unwanted salts are removed from the water with the help of cation and anion exchangers. For example, one calcium molecule is replaced by two sodium molecules.
At the moment the water leaves the fine channels (0.7 µm), there is an immediate drop in pressure. Part of the lime is converted into aragonite in the form of Ca2+. Aragonite has a different structure than lime (Ca2+), which means that it adheres less or not at all to surfaces. This reduces annoying limescale stains.

Method 4
Electrical adsorption
Viruses are up to 15 times smaller than the finest channels of the filter cartridge. Size comparison:
Virus: (0.03µm)
Active Plus+: 0.5µm
Nevertheless, the Active Plus+ cartridge reliably filters viruses using electronic adsorption technology. The pores of the filter have an intensive surface charge opposite to the polarity of the viruses. Due to the fineness of the pores, the electrical fields of the individual pores overlap and thus form an area-wide voltage which destroys the virus envelope on contact.
