Filter odors, tastes & chlorine from the water
Unfortunately, chlorine is not only found in swimming pools. The chemical element with the distinctive taste can be found as standard in Tapwater in many European countries.
Chlorine isalso used in drinking water treatmentin Germany to safely kill bacteria (e.g. faecal germs, e-coli) and other pathogens. The process is called chlorination.
Water filters for chlorine can therefore be a sensible investment:
- Despite very strict regulations in Germany, harmful effects on health cannot be ruled out.
- There are also some studies that indicate that the by-products of chlorination in particular can be extremely harmful.

Here in the online store you will find two effective water filters to reliably filter chlorine and its by-products from drinking water.

Our activated carbon block filters are very effective and remove not only chlorine but also unpleasant odors, tastes and many other undesirable substances.

Active filter cartridge - Performance spectrum
Removal of bad taste and odors
High-quality Alb Filter coconut block activated carbon adsorbs unpleasant odors(chlorine, CHCs, CFCs, etc.) and impairs the taste of drinking water.
Reduction of heavy metals
The adsorbing effect of activated carbon binds heavy metals such as lead and copper in drinking water.
Filtration of microplastics
The ultra-fine structure of the sintered activated carbon reliably retains microscopically small plastic particles.
Reduction of pesticides and pharmaceutical residues
Organic compounds such as pesticide residues, herbicides, insecticides, drug residues, hormones and hormone-like substances can be reduced.
Cartridge change
Change interval 4 months - depending on the quality of the input water.
Quality made in Germany
High-quality production paired with Swabian ingenuity results in made in Germany.

Active Plus+ filter cartridge Performance spectrum
Removes bad taste and odors
BIOTON binds unpleasant odors (such as chlorine) and impairs taste.
Reduction of heavy metals
The adsorbing effect of BIOTON binds heavy metals such as lead and copper in drinking water.
Filtration of microplastics and the smallest particles
The ultra-fine structure of the filter medium reliably retains microscopically small particles and plastic particles down to 0.7 µm.
Reduction of pesticides and pharmaceutical residues
Organic compounds such as pesticide residues, herbicides, insecticides, drug residues, hormones and hormone-like substances can be reduced.
Against bacteria and germs
Germ protection without chemicals. Mechanical germ barrier up to a bacterial size of 0.7 µm.
Limescale reduction / water softening
"Double" water softening through ion exchange and structural change of limescale compounds (less adherent surface)
Cartridge change
Change interval 4 months - depending on the quality of the input water.
Can also be used with hot water
Insensitive even at higher water temperatures (up to approx. 45° C)
Active or Active Plus+? What is the difference?
Active and Active Plus+ both consist of a sintered activated carbon block.
The two water filters, or more precisely: both cartridges, reduce chlorine from the water - and do so equally effectively.
However, the Active Plus+ cartridge is more efficient when it comes to other undesirable substances in Tapwater - e.g. limescale, germs, bacteria and microplastics.

Depending on which ingredients you want to filter in the Tapwater, we recommend taking a look at the performance spectrum of the two cartridges.

Questions and answers about our water filter for chlorine
How does chlorine get into drinking water?
Chlorine is an integral part of water treatment for the purification of drinking water. The reason for this? Chlorine is comparatively cheap and can be used universally. This is why it is used by water suppliers as a disinfectant, e.g. to kill germs

Which water filter should I use against chlorine?
In principle, activated carbon block filters as well as ion exchangers and filters that work with reverse osmosis are suitable for filtering chlorine out of the water. Various criteria (e.g. cost, sustainability, etc.) play a role in the selection process.

Is chlorine in water destroyed during boiling?
Chlorine is a very volatile substance that evaporates when water is heated. Without a water filter, it is recommended to boil Tapwater for at least five minutes in the event of acute contamination.
What does climate change have to do with chlorine in drinking water?
Waterworks are facing new challenges as a result of climate change. Heavy rainfall in particular can lead to an increased bacterial load. If a large amount of rain falls in a short period of time, the soil no longer acts as a natural filter - and the waterworks have to chlorinate Tapwater more intensively.
What does a chlorine filter cost?
Depending on which variant you order, you can expect the following costs:
- The Active already exists from , EUR
- You can get the Active Plus+ Duo from , EUR

How do hormone filters for drinking water work?
The Active and Active Plus+ are activated carbon filters. They can effectively filter microplastics, hormones, bacteria, germs, taste, odor and, of course, chlorine, because the sintered activated carbon core adsorbs all pollutants, i.e. binds them firmly to itself.

How long can I use the Alb Filter hormone filter?
Every water filter requires the cartridge to be replaced at certain intervals. We recommend changing it after a maximum of 4 or 6 months - depending on the cartridge used. You can find our replacement cartridges here.
